Welcome to the new website of Warren Farm Radio Flyers, the only legal model flying site in the London Borough of Ealing.
Our main flying site is at Warren Farm Sports Centre, Windmill Lane, Southall UB2 4NE. Use of the site is licenced to us by Ealing Council
Only members of WFRF are permitted to fly there.
By agreement with Ealing Council, all WFRF members are required to hold membership of the British Model Flying Association. In addition, following the recent new legislation arising from the misuse of drones, all members must hold a certificate of competence (BMFA basic certificate, A or B certificate or CAA certificate), and all models must be marked with the operators CAA registration number.
WFRF is a primarily a fixed wing club only – helicopters/drones/quadcopters/multirotor machines are not normally permitted and would only be considered in special circumstances. First person View (FPV) is not permitted.
In common with many other clubs, most of our members now fly models powered by electric motors with rechargeable batteries. Models powered by internal combustion engines are also permitted, but we ask that noise levels be kept to a minimum.
FLYING TIMES Our main training session is on Saturday mornings from about 10am to 1pm. Flying can take place at any time from 9am – 7pm daily, and many of our retired members make use of the site during the week, weather permitting.
SUBSCRIPTIONS Our annual subscription is £42, which goes to pay our annual licence fee to Ealing Council. Discounts may apply to new members joining late in the year.
Warren Farm Radio Flyers is a not-for-profit organisation.
We currently have a number of vacancies for both beginners and experienced flyers, especially instructors.
